Classic high passes trek with Kang Yatse II Summit
Kang Yatse II, standing at 6,250 meters, is one of the most sought-after trekking peaks in Ladakh, especially due to its relatively straightforward approach via the scenic Markha Valley. Its popularity continues to grow thanks to its accessibility for trekkers with basic mountaineering skills and its panoramic summit views. While Kang Yatse I is a more technical climb, Kang Yatse II offers a less demanding ascent, making it ideal for fit trekkers seeking a high-altitude summit experience.
From the summit, you’re rewarded with breathtaking views of the Zanskar and Karakoram ranges, as well as the distant peaks of the Mentok range near Tso Moriri to the southeast.
Crampons, ice axes, and ropes may be required during the early or late parts of the trekking season, and are definitely necessary in off-season conditions. During peak trekking months, the ascent is often possible without technical gear, depending on the snow and ice conditions.
