Classic Markha Valley trek with Dzo Jongo East Summit
Dzo Jongo East, at a height of 6,200 meters, is growing in popularity as a trekking peak due to its wide ridge, which makes it more easily accessible. The name Dzo Jongo comes from its twin peaks, with Dzo Jongo West, resembling the head of a dzo (a hybrid yak). From the summit, there are dramatic views of the Karakoram Range to the north, Zanskar to the west, and the Mentok range to the southeast.
The use of crampons, ice axe, and ropes may be required at the beginning or end of the season and is definitely necessary off-season. During mid-season, it can sometimes be hiked without technical gear, depending on snow and ice conditions.
